Dear Rotarians,

The second half of our Rotary year got off to a great start last week.  We enjoyed our annual "Top Ten News Stories" presentation by Ned Seaton.  Ned's presentation is consistently interesting, enlightening and humorous. In addition to Ned's presentation, we had the opportunity to welcome Ed Seaton back to our club after a long recovery from an injury he sustained last fall.  It was great to see Ed again and we continue to wish him all the best for a full recovery.

Our annual business meeting will be conducted this week.  This is your opportunity to elect a new slate of officers and directors for your club.  Please plan to attend and support those members who have volunteered to serve your club in this capacity.

There are several upcoming opportunities to serve with your fellow Rotarians.  Monday, January 19th, is the annual free skate day at the City of Manhattan Ice Rink.  Each year our club, in partnership with the Konza Club, provides volunteers to assist with the large crowd of skaters. In addition, both clubs donate funds for the purchase of new skates for the city ice rink.  If you are willing to work a short 2 hour shift, please contact Jeff Geuther at geuther@ksu.edu. January 28th is our next club social at the Lazy T Ranch in conjunction with the Panamanian Vocational Team visit.   This should be a great time and I appreciate Sue Maes for her work in coordinating the team's visit to Manhattan and Ron Wilson for hosting the event.

This week we will recognize our MHS Students of The Month for January.  Our program features Eric Higgins, Department Head of the Finance Department at K State.  Eric's presentation is entitled "Economic Review and Outlook.  I hope you'll join me for lunch this Thursday.
