Dear Rotarians,

As we rapidly approach Christmas and the end of another year, I can't help but reflect on the positive impact our club has locally.  One of my favorite holiday movies this time of year is "It's a Wonderful Life."   I think many of our members may be very similar to George Bailey, who in this movie underestimates the positive impact he has had on many lives.  Thanks to a gentle guardian angel named Clarence, George realizes he has touched many people in a very positive way and that his life has truly been a wonderful one.  Many of you have been very supportive and complimentary of myself and others involved in leadership of our club.  Your support, involvement, encouragement and positive comments have meant so much to me.  Thank you and I look forward to a great second half of our Rotary year!

Another opportunity for you to make a positive impact is attached in an e-mail I received from Dean Tim de Noble.  If you have gently used professional attire that you are willing to donate, your contribution will provide K State students attire they can wear for upcoming career fairs and  job interviews.  The attached e-mail outlines the details of the K State Career Closet program if you are interested.  Speaking of K State students, we still have a need for mentors for some K State Rotoract members.  Please contact Darrell Brensing if you have questions about the time commitment or if you are interested in mentoring a young Rotarian.

Last week we recognized 2 Students of The Month from MHS, Geri Speaks and Adam Hupp.  We also had the pleasure of honoring our latest Paul Harris Fellow, Helen Cooper.  Congratulations to Helen, our club's 14th Paul Harris Fellow since July 1st

This week we will enjoy our annual performance featuring the MHS Pops Choir under the direction of Chad Pape.  This is one of our most popular programs, so plan to arrive early and bring a guest.  This week's meeting will be our last meeting of 2014 as we will not meet on December 25th or January 1st. Our next scheduled meeting will be Thursday, January 8th

I hope to see you this Thursday for lunch.

Scott Emley
