My Fellow Rotarian;

Greetings my friends!  This e-mail will be my last one to you as President of Manhattan Rotary.  While the 26 th is my last official duty as your President I will be out of my office that week doing other projects and some travel prior to the Thursday meeting.

I appreciate the feed back that you gave me regarding these e-mails.  It was my attempt at the beginning of my term as President to communicate with you as to the goings on with the club and what may be coming up.  This took on a life of its own and I made the commitment to continue it through my term.   It’s been fun.

This Thursday is our club’s annual awards meeting where we will recognize many of you and your efforts to make our club so special and vibrant.  It will culminate with our recognizing the Rotarian of the Year as introduced by C Clyde Jones.

There are so many of you I want to express my gratitude and thanks yet hesitate to name because I know I will miss some and for that my apologies but serving as President there is no way the club can run without a secretary, the board of directors,  and other key positions.  So here’s to George Ham and all that he does week in and week out.  To president elect Scott Emley who is going to take this club to a higher level; to Eric Higgins for getting great speakers every Thursday.  That is a tough duty.  To Mel Chastain for his leadership & committee’s work with our new Rotarians and so much more.   To Betty Stevens on educating me on Rotary International; To Mike Mayo and the Rotary Foundation committee, and dang this email is going to get way to long but a special shout out to the past presidents of our club whose guidance I certainly appreciated.

I urge you to get involved if not already so.  Consider chairing a committee and/or running for the board.  I had to be asked a few years back to serve on the board of directors and pushed to consider getting in line to eventually serve as your President.   As they say, you get out what you put it.  Well for my experience what I got out far exceeds what I put in.  It has been a great experience.

It truly has been a joy, honor and privilege to serve as your Club’s President.

See you for lunch this Thursday!  Thank you for being a Rotarian!

Dick
