My Fellow Rotarian;

Hello my friends!  Happy month of June!  It definitely feels like summer now!  How many saw all those Future Farmers of America kids wandering around campus and Manhattan in full uniform?   Dang it had to be hot in those outfits.  As someone reminded me, there is something to be said about wearing a uniform because if you do something you ought not to be doing you will be an easy person to remember and point out!!  Although truth be told, these kids are a great example of what is good living in Kansas.

At our meeting last week we had our very own Past President Sue Maes, Dean of K-State Global Campus visit with us on how K-State is now a leader in online classes.   It is amazing how many students now jump online for some or all of their classes.  Very informative talk given by Dean Sue.  Remember you can catch it online at our Rotary website.

I am probably going to repeat myself on a few items and one of which is giving to the Rotary Foundation.  There is still time this month to do so..   Many of you have stepped up and I do appreciate your gift.

President-elect Scott Emily is working on committee assignments and will be contacting you to see of your interest.  I would encourage you to reach out to Scott or one of the board members to indicate where you would want to get involved.  Also please share ideas you may have with Scott or myself to make your experience and involvement better!

A couple of other reminders:  Dues were sent out via e-mail in May with June 30 th  as the date we would like everyone paid.  It is necessary so we can give Rotary International accurate numbers for our club membership.

Coming up this month is Juneteenth.  Dave Denning and Jeff Guether are leading the charge.  Thanks to your involvement we have a great number signed up to distribute ice cream but would like more to walk in the parade or if that proves difficult, you can act like you are in the movie, “Rain Man” and ride in a beautiful 1958 (?) Buick convertible.

This Thursday our guest speaker and my good friend Gordon Hibbard will speak on the Kansas 4H programs.

See you for lunch this Thursday!  Thank you for being a Rotarian!

Dick
