I hope you enjoyed last week’s speaker, Kevin Gwinner, Dean of the KSU College of Business. Thanks to Esther Swilley for the introductions. As the Dean said, “Sometimes knowing what you don’t want to do is as valuable as knowing what you do want to do!”
January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. The Kansas Office of the Attorney General is partnering with Kansas Rotary Clubs to increase awareness of and compliance with the new state law that requires certain establishments to post information about how to contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline. The new partnership will equip Rotarians with talking points and posters to distribute across Kansas. On January 19 at 12:00 noon the “End Sex and Labor Trafficking” SWARM Global Grant team report will be presented. This is an opportunity to learn what is happening in District 5710, more specifically the KC area.
The quarterly district “End Human Trafficking” committee meeting will be Tuesday, January 25 at 12:00 noon. This is an opportunity to receive updates on the projects, grants, education and legislative initiatives, and seminars that our members are supporting to fight human trafficking.
Our club is working on a joint service project sometime this spring with the Konza club to assist The Homestead, a local social service organization that provides help, hope and holistic healing for adult female sex trafficking survivors. Be watching for more information
