Andrea “Andee” Platt joins Rotary as the sales and marketing manager of Diamond Roofing.  Diamond Roofing is a family owned company that was founded in 1979 in Dodge City, KS and was expanded in 2006 by opening a second location in Manhattan, KS. We safely serve customers with high performance solutions, superior workmanship, and professional roofing services. She and her husband Ryan Platt, owner and operator of the Wareham Opera House recently moved back to Manhattan, KS this past July.

She was born and raised in Dodge City, KS. After graduating from Dodge City High School, she attended Kansas State University.  At K -State, she was an active member of the Beta Upsilon Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Pi Delta Phi French club and was selected by a Spanish professor to tutor spouses of professors who wanted to perfect their English conversations skills. In spring 2004, she studied abroad in southern France in Aix-en-Provence at the Université de Droit, d’Économie et des Science d’Aix-Marseille. This opportunity not only allowed her to ameliorate her French linguistic skills, but provided her the opportunity to travel all over Europe. Upon returning to the states, she finished out her college career at Kansas State.  In 2006, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Language (French), with an emphasis in Spanish.  She then moved to Kansas City where she continued her education and pursued a Masters at Rockhurst University.

During her studies, she worked at Académie Lafayette: K -8 French Immersion School where she was the bi-lingual medial specialist and literacy educator.

In 2007, she received a Masters of Education in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment along with initial teacher certification in both Missouri and Kansas.  From 2008-2013 she was an educator at Gardner Edgerton High School where she taught French I, II, III, and College Now (Honor’s French IV) ,a dual-credit class in conjunction with Johnson County Communication College. At GEHS, she was the Foreign Language Department chair, and was a clinical supervisor who mentored several teacher education candidates from the University of Kansas. Aside from her teaching responsibilities she also was the International Club sponsor, French Club Sponsor, and Prom Sponsor.

Currently, she is actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce and Junior League of the Flint Hills. She looks forward to join Rotary as she has a passion to serve others in addition to building strong relationships with others who share a common interest. Both her grandparents and father were former Rotarians, past presidents, and Paul Harris fellows.  She always knew it was only a matter of time that she would follow in their footsteps, becoming a Rotarian herself.
