Myriah Smith updates from Panama
Here are a few things they've been doing in class and also a very enjoyable trip she took to the public library there.

Here are the library photos, first.
This was signed by Pablo Neruda!
This is a Linguistic Atlas of Colombia!! How cool is that??
Two weeks ago, I actually rented a dog for a day in order to teach the students how to care for pets. We practiced forming sentences using the model, "The puppy needs...." and also talking about things that we need by saying, "I need..." After a week of practicing that, I brought in the puppy and the students were absolutely thrilled. Here are the pictures.
She chilled out while we did some writing.
The entire school wanted to hold her during recess.
Some of them seemed a little nervous with her, though!
But there was no need for that, she was an absolute sweetheart.
Here's a few more pictures of an activity we've been working on for a while in Kindergarten. We're practicing ordering the alphabet and numbers. They come out looking backwards in the photos, though. :/
This week, we also fixed a lot of broken windows that we had in the classrooms, and purchased a portable air conditioner, which is important because the air conditioners that are installed are unreliable and because of the way the school is set up (It's very closed off and no breeze can get in) it can get suffocatingly hot without air conditioning.
I hope all of you are well and enjoy the little update. I'm also thinking of doing a video tour of the school! It just occurred to me a while ago and I think it would be a fun thing so you can get a better idea of what the space is like.
Sincerely,
Myriah Smith
