Fellow Rotarians;

Our last week's meeting was a great event and if you missed it let me summarize for you.

Vernon Turner gave a moving inspiration on a former soldier making his way across America to recognize all those soldiers who died in Iraq and Afghanistan.  He really puts a human touch to the loss we as a country have endured.

It was then my pleasure to introduce Mark Queen to the podium to announce our newest fellow Rotarian, Lonnie Baker.  Lonnie is Chief Executive Officer of Meadowlark Hills.  Welcome Lonnie!

Keith Westervelt announced our next social at GTM on August 20th at 5:30.  Fellow Rotarian Dave Dreiling is our host.  This a must see opportunity to see one of the most dynamic companies in Manhattan!  Register on line or at our meeting.

C Clyde Jones took the floor and introduced our speaker Head Coach Bill Snyder who regaled us by telling us about his first year as a teacher in California and then moved on to his day that he spent on campus when he was being recruited.  He hadn’t quite used up his time when lo and behold he started breaking down the football team!  He started and ended with the offensive side of the ball.  I say ended because we neared the end of our meeting and I had to cut him off.  So the timing was perfect as he looked at me and said well, I have to end here so I will tell you about the defense next year!  Classic.

Anyway, it’s early August and many of you may be out of town on vacation or work but fall is in the air as students start trickling in and the football team begins practice. I don't know about you but this time of year really gets my juices going!

We will welcome as our speaker this week Michelle Haub from Meadowlark Hills to give us insight on the Parkinson Program that she directs.

See you all this Thursday for lunch!

Dick
