I just attended the Rotary District 9600 District Conference in Caloundra, Queensland. About 2 hours from Brisbane--on the beach! It was a 2 1/2 day event and all in all it was very interesting. I heard about some great projects, including an "Operation Cleft" project in Bangladesh (brought back fond memories for me). There was also an organization there called "Learn Grow" http://www.learngrow.org/about-learngrow/history-of-learngrow/.
I will definitely be getting in touch with them further--they are doing work on food security at a very basic level--researching and documenting vegetables/fruit that provide the most nutrients in different parts of the world. Thus far they have created a database and are working with communities on growing those vegetables/fruit. My area of interest!

Otherwise I am keeping busy with studying. My three courses this semester are:
1. Globalisation, International Political Economy and Development (yes, learning to use "s" instead of "z" when combined with "ation")
2. Culture, Conflict and Reconciliation
3. Advanced International Studies (read: THEORY)

I'm getting back in the swing of academic reading--and soon academic writing! All assessment (at least this semester) is based on essays.

Having a lovely time here! Thanks again for all your support,
Summer
