Bethany Caldwell, the outgoing president of the Rotaract Club at Kansas State University, presented an update of activities accomplished in the past year at the Manhattan Rotary Club meeting on May 17.
Some of their service activities include providing books to Northview elementary in Manhattan and working with the University’s Jardine apartment complex to provide a summer and winter “day of fun” for families. In the past few years Rotaract members have supported Help Us Learn Give Us Hope, a non-profit organization, to pack school supplies donated by Manhattan community for the children in Afghanistan, Iraq, and North Africa. They have also been involved in trash clean-up at the Turtle Creek Reservoir and assisted with the annual book sale at the Manhattan Public Library.
Beyond service, the Rotaract club continues to provide leadership and professional development opportunities for their members and the Kansas State University student population. Some of these opportunities include workshops offered by Powercat Financial Services and Blue Key Senior Honorary Society and through Mentorship by Rotarians and other community leaders.
Founded more than 22 years ago, the Rotaract club comprises students who are passionate about the Rotary mission to serve communities at the local, national and international levels.  Rotaract members are Kansas State University students who are pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies from various disciplines. They have been notably active in other on-campus activities such as alternative break, international service teams through the Leadership Studies Program, residence hall recycling, free high school tutoring, International Buddies program that mentors incoming international students, and are involved in several other clubs on campus.

The Rotaract advisors are Betty Stevens and Darrell Brensing, both of Manhattan Rotary Club, and Kraig Thompson is the incoming Rotaract president.
