CASSIDI GREEN

I graduated from KSU in May of 2002 with a Bachelor of Science Degree, with my emphasis in Human Resource Management.  I grew up on a farm East of Manhattan and went to Rock Creek High School.  I was a member of the Riley County 4-H Bonfire club for 6 years.  I have 2 daughters, Samantha 16 &
Mahtee-Lynne who is 8. Both of them attend St. Mary's school, just East of Manhattan.  My daughter's both continue to be involved in 4-H and have shown cattle and goats the past few years.  I also have a step-son who is 9 and resides with his mother in Attica KS.

My husband and I have been married for 3 years and he is currently an executive assistant for Ken Gartner, at Walgreens East.

I coach a 16U fast pitch traveling softball team every summer for the past 10 years.  I am very proud that each player I have coached as made varsity their freshman year of high school.

Coaching is my true passion and as a manager I also get to coach my employees.  I started with Walgreens as an assistant manager in September of 2002, became an executive assistant in 2006 and 8 months later became the store manager in January of 2007. In September of 2009 I opened Walgreen's West.  Just before I left Walgreens East my team and I were awarded Store & Pharmacy of the year.

I also enjoy hunting and my father and I will be going on a guided Elk hunt the first week of December.  I play on a Co-Ed Softball team and a women's volleyball team

Family

Married to Tracey Gartner for 17 years.  We have 2 children, Emily 14 (a freshman at Hayden High School) and Joseph 10 (a 5th grader at Most Pure Heart).  We belong to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka.  Both of our children are very active in soccer and basketball.  They both play for the Prodigy Soccer Club, which is a competitive team that plays their league games in Kansas City.  Both of our children also play competitive basketball. Emily to participated in Cross Country this year at Hayden, (won 4A state championship) where she was able to earn a letter.

Work

I have been at Walgreen’s for 32 years, 23 of those years as a Store Manager.  I have had the privilege of managing six different stores from Lawrence, Topeka and now Manhattan.   I started as a cashier, moved into the Pharmacy as a technician before being promoted to an Assistant Manager.  I opened the first store in Lawrence Kansas in 1993.  I worked at the Downtown Topeka store across from the capital for 13 years, which is one of the 24hour stores.  I’ve been in Manhattan since April of this year.

Awards/Accomplishments

In 1993 I was awarded Store Manager of the Year.  I have helped in the hiring and training of employees, which has led to having over 50 of those employees now being Store Managers.  Some of these employees were hired from the Career Fairs that have been held at KSU and Washburn University the past 20 years.  I have received the Career Development Award from the Topeka Youth Project.  I have received the Kansas Board of Education Award of Excellence in 2009.  I have participated in working with the Topeka Public Schools to give students with disabilities a chance to learn job skills in an on the job training environment.  In 2010 our community won the Community of the Year award, where we participated in more community events then the other stores in our district.
