The Emporia Rotary Club has stepped up to help out their neighbor town of Reading, Kansas to recover from the destruction of the tornado that destroyed almost all of their town.  Let's pull together to help out a community in need.  Read the message below from PDG Chuck Frazier.

Linda Ireland
Executive Assistant
District 5710

The Rotary Club of Emporia is acting as a collecting agent for monetary contributions to provide financial relief to the many victims of the tornado that caused destruction and damage to half of  the Reading community's buildings on Saturday May 21.  Reading is a small farming community that is certainly below average on the socio-economic scale.  Many if not most of those who suffered losses were uninsured and will have a great deal of difficulty in coping financially with the losses they encountered.
The Rotary Club of Emporia has teamed with our local United Way, whose executive director is a Rotarian, to set up a special fund.  This will enable all contributions to qualify as tax deductible since they will go through United Way, a 501c3 agency.  We will jointly set up a committee of local citizens to administered/distribute the funds as needs are known.

Checks from Rotary clubs or individual Rotarians should be made payable to United Way Tornado Relief Fund and mailed to Chuck Frazier, PO Box 1071, Emporia, KS 66801.  Questions regarding this assistance can be directed to me at  mailto:PDG5710@cableone.net or call my cell phone at 620-481-5105.
