My Fellow Rotarian;

Good afternoon!  I usually try to get this e-mail out on Tuesdays however my wife and I just got back from the Twin Cities for a long weekend with our 3rd son and his fiancé to celebrate an early Thanksgiving so my Tuesday back to work was a crazy busy day.

As I mentioned in the previous e-mail November is Rotary Foundation month and the opportunity to kick start our goal of $100 per member for this Rotary year.

At our last meeting we enjoyed Dave Woolfolk’s inspirational words which were appropriate for today’s guest speaker and for Rotary Foundation month.

We were honored to have in attendance our two grant recipients, Myriah Smith and Christian Cruz.   They are getting ready for their work in South America and it was great to have them in attendance as we announced the approval of our grant applications.

Your giving of $19,000 last Rotary year gained $60,000 in grants from the district and Rotary International.  As Betty Stevens remarked, you can’t get that rate of return on money deposited in a bank!

Tony English addressed the assembly by inviting us to our next social at his place of work, Frontier Farm Credit.  It will be February 13th.  They just moved into their new building out by Colbert Hills.  You should have received an invitation via e-mail to attend.  If not see Tony, Keith Westervelt or George Ham to sign up.

Past President Ike Ehie then introduced our guest speaker Kevin Tubbesing, past District Governor and current District Rotary Foundation Chair whose presentation reminded us of all the good work Rotary International does around the world and how your giving makes such a huge difference.

This coming Thursday even though basketball season has already begun, our guest speaker will be Coach Deb Patterson for K-State’s women’s basketball.

See you all for lunch tomorrow!

Dick
