Weekly Updates from President Wertzberger

My Fellow Rotarian;

Hello my friends!  We have a taste of summer today!  I hope you all can get out and enjoy the warm weather.  I am heading outside myself as soon as I upload this note to you.

Last Thursday was Rotary Foundation day as we heard Jack Ryan share an inspiration minute on the value of the foundation and our speaker was Larry Dimmitt who is our Zone Regional Rotary International Foundation coordinator.   Along with his talk he recognized Bill Richter and Mark Queen for their generous volunteer and monetary giving to RI.   Well done gentlemen!

We were also pleased to witness Betty Stevens hand out scholarship awards to two international graduate students.  I wish I had taken better notes as their names escape me.   If you missed the meeting see Betty or Rebecca Gould for their names.

This Rotary year is coming to close with less than two months more to go.  We are making June 19^th for our annual awards presentation with the highlight being Rotarian of the Year.  If you would like to nominate a fellow Rotarian please get in contact with Ole Olsen or George Ham.   I can think of a number of you that are certainly worthy candidates!

This past weekend was our district 5710’s convention.  Thank you to President-elect Scott Emley for attending.  He will be having his board retreat and planning session for the coming Rotary year next Monday, May 12^th.  Please share ideas you may have with Scott or myself to make your experience and involvement better!

You should have received an e-mail for your dues for the next Rotary year.  Please give this your attention so we may get off on a strong footing for the new Rotary year.  If you haven’t received your dues notice please contact George Ham or Gil Sabatka.

Relay for Life will be held July 12^th.  Ben Johnson is working on this for our club.   Please contact Ben if you wish to participate and contribute!  In all my life I would never have considered myself a cancer survivor but I am and grateful for the successful surgery.

And finally it isn’t to late to be a sponsor or sign up for our Rotary Golf outing to be held May 19^th at Manhattan Country Club.
