My Fellow Rotarian;

A great spring day to greet you all with as I review last week’s meeting and a look ahead.

Last Thursday saw a full house with many guests in attendance to listen to Ward Morgan give us a brief history on his business Civics Plus and his other ventures.  It was insightful to learn that the impetus for his effort in restoring some of the downtown buildings and opening new shops and restaurants was to show people they are recruiting at Civics Plus from large cities that the Little Apple has an urban appeal as well.

By now some of you have received a letter from me asking you to carefully consider giving to the Rotary Foundation.  We are nearly at the end of our Rotarian year and it would be wonderful to be able to achieve our goal of $100 per Rotarian member.  I ask you to thoughtfully consider giving.

Mark your calendars now for Riley County Relay for Life July 12th.  It will be held at City Park this year.  Ben Johnson is our club’s chairman for participating and raising money.  Many of us are either cancer survivors, know of someone battling cancer or lost a loved one to cancer.  Our club has traditionally raised the most money for this event.

Don’t forget to sign up for our Rotary Golf outing to be held May 19th at Manhattan Country Club.

Our guest speaker this week is Julie Roller to tell us about the Kansas Sampler event coming up in Wamego.

See you for lunch this Thursday!  Thank you for being a Rotarian!

Dick
