Rotarians,

For the second week in a row, we were fortunate to have a coach from K State Athletics Department speak to our club.  Last week, women's basketball coach Jeff Mittie gave us insight into his family and his background, as well as the current status of the women's basketball program.  It was apparent  Coach Mittie is very pleased to be at K State and saw this as an opportunity he couldn't pass on.  It will be interesting to see how our women's basketball program evolves under his leadership.

I intentionally rushed through and skipped some announcements last week in the interest of time as I was a little late getting the meeting started.  I will take this opportunity to cover some of those items not mentioned last week.  Ben Johnson was our club's coordinator for the Riley County Relay for Life which was held on Saturday July 12.  Ben reports the total raised for the American Cancer Society was $29,791, of which $6,757 was raised by our club.  This was by far the largest contribution by any organization or participant. A sincere thank you to Ben for his work on this project and to all of you who contributed and walked. Our District is hosting the Rotary Leadership Seminar this Saturday, August 9th in Topeka. This is a great opportunity for anyone who desires to learn more about Rotary.  A reminder to all committee chairs,  we  have our club assembly scheduled for August 28th during our regular meeting time. This is a time set aside for committees to meet and accomplish their work.

This week's program is "Coping With Constant Pain" presented by Dr. Andrew Barker.  I hope to see you at lunch on Thursday!
